Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Virginia Tech has announced some changes they are making in their admissions process, taking effect in time for the 2023-2024 admissions cycle.
The university tweaks their admissions process every summer, they say, but this year is bringing some significant alterations. This round of changes, according to Virginia Tech's website, are "discontinuing the early decision option, formally eliminating legacy as a factor, and complying with the recent US Supreme Court decision to remove race and ethnicity as an explicit factor in the admissions decision process."
They also said, however, that the college is intent on "attracting and graduating students from underrepresented minority and underserved backgrounds" like low-income, first generation and veteran students, and that their focus will remain on "lowering barriers to admissions, creating effective pre-college programs, and supporting our students while on campus."
