Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Department of Health says Virginians can start receiving boosters of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, starting today. The Pfizer booster was already approved. The boosters are recommended for people 65 and older, people whom have compromised immune systems, or work in high exposure jobs.

Vaccine Coordinator Dr. Danny Avula says Virginia is prepared for the vaccine rollout, having worked with their vaccine partners ahead of time. The Commonwealth has also set up Community Vaccination Centers around the Commonwealth, including at Richmond Raceway and at the shopping center at Hull Street and Courthouse Road in Chesterfield.

The CDC is also allowing the mixing and matching of vaccines now, however, Avula recommends you talk with your doctor first to determine what is best for you.
