Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- In addition to physically preparing for disasters, the Virginia Department of Emergency Management is recommending people make digital preparations ahead of hurricane season.
This includes scanning important documents, digitizing physical photos, and backing up those digital files on a cloud or external hard drive. Additionally, make sure your electronics are high off the ground in case of flooding.
People should also establish ways to keep up with information in case of emergency, especially by following local emergency management departments and weather services on social media.
