Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -Richmond residents can now vote on which projects they want to see completed in their neighborhood.
Voting opened Tuesday for the latest phase of the Richmond People’s Budget Project, which allows those who live in the city to decide on projects that will be completed with $3 million in funding.
“It’s an opportunity for folks to think about the project that prioritizes them and their neighborhood and then think about two other projects or ideas that could be impacting folks in surrounding neighborhoods, but still within their district,” said Leidiana Delgado, civic engagement coordinator for Richmond City Council
Voting will continue online and in-person through Tuesday, April 15. Anyone 14 years or older can vote for their top three projects in order of preference.
There are about 10 projects per district available to be voted on. The proposals span a number of issues, from bus seating and park improvements to pedestrian safety.
Once the winning proposals are announced, the project will move into the funding phase in July.
