Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - During a downtown appearance in Richmond Friday morning, Senator Mark Warner (D) said he hopes some Ukranian refugees are brought to Virginia, and that the Commonwealth is as welcoming as it was with Afghan refugees last year. The Biden Administration recently announced it was accepting up to 100,000 Ukranians fleeing the invasion by Russia.

A large number of Afghan refugees were brought through Virginia, either to Fort Lee, Fort Pickett, or Quantico, where they were processed and housed until they could be resettled. While no more Afghans remain on military bases, Warner says some are in Loudoun County receiving similar help.

The Democrat says the ultimate goal, however, needs to be to help the Ukranians defeat Russia so that the refugees can return home.
