Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Due to wintry weather, schools in a number of counties across Central Virginia are closed Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Chesterfield County leaders pointed to road conditions mainly in the southern part of the county, while Henrico said roads and school parking lots were unsafe in the eastern parts of the county.
County leaders initially said schools would operate on a two-hour delay, but a decision to close was announced on Wednesday morning. This is the result of bitter cold temperatures and a winter storm that has blanketed much of the south, from Texas to the Carolinas.
The following schools will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 22 due to winter weather:
• Richmond Public Schools
• Henrico County Public Schools
• Chesterfield County Public Schools
• Hanover County Public Schools
• Hopewell City Public Schools
• Prince George County Public Schools
• Greensville County Public Schools
