Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - UPDATE: Richmond Police now say the suspect in the officer-involved shooting has died. They also have identified the people involved as James Talbert, III, 63, of Richmond and Peace Talbert, 55, of Richmond. The two individuals were married.
ORIGINAL: Richmond Police say a woman in her 50s in dead, and a suspect is in critical condition, in an incident that spread from southside Richmond to northside. Police say the initial call was around 10:30 Friday morning on Evergreen Avenue, where they broke into a home and found a woman shot.
However, the initial 9-1-1 call provided a suspect name and a good vehicle description, and officers tracked down the car to North Avenue. Two officers opened fire on the suspect, wounding him. Acting Police Chief Rick Edwards says they did find a weapon with the man, who is in his 60s. Edwards did not know if the suspect shot at the officers, and they are reviewing body camera footage.
The officers are currently on paid administrative leave.
