Henrico County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A woman is dead and an elementary school-aged child is fighting for his life following a crash in Henrico County Monday evening.
Just after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, Henrico Police and fire units responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Wistar Road and Walkenhut Drive.
On their way to the scene, community members reported that the people injured in the crash were loaded into a car and headed to a local hospital.
First responders arrived at the hospital, where they found the two people involved in the crash. One of them, a woman, had died as a result of her injuries. The other victim, an elementary school-aged boy, had sustained life-threatening injuries.
Officials with the Henrico County Police division said the two victims are closely related but further information on their relationship would not be shared at this time pending identification.
The crash remains under investigation. .
