Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) has announced four new appointees to the State Parole Board, positions that have been open since the end of the General Assembly session. The State Senate rejected Youngkin's original appointees in an ongoing flap over appointments made by both Youngkin and former Governor Ralph Northam (D). The flap began when the Senate rejected Youngkin's Natural Resources choice, Andrew Wheeler, who was former President Donald Trump's EPA chief.

Youngkin fired the Parole Board shortly after taking office, over controversial paroles granted, as well as other concerns, during the Northam Administration. Among the new appointees is the wife of State Police Trooper Chad Dermyer. Dermyer was shot and killed at the Richmond Greyhound Station six years ago. Toby Vick, a former deputy Attorney General and Henrico Commonwealth's Attorney, was also named as well.

The Board would still face eventual confirmation by the General Assembly.
