Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin has issued an executive directive to target threats of violence against Jewish and other religious communities. The directive comes in the wake of the war currently going on in Israel and Gaza.
The directive allows the Virginia Fusion Center to operate at a heightened state, and asks colleges and universities to update their safety plans. It instructs law enforcement to increase exchanges of information, and speeds up grants for organizations dealing with religious or ethnic discrimination.
While the directive specifically mentions antisemitism, Youngkin says it also applies to Muslims, who are facing potential backlash over the war.
