Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) has urged Attorney General Jason Miyares (R) to take a look into Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Fairfax County. This comes after conservative media reports into delays in notifying students of commendations regarding National Merit Scholarships. The conservative outlets allege the delays were done to avoid hurting the feelings of students who were not awarded.
Miyares just recently released a report from a special grand jury looking into sexual assaults in Loudoun County schools.
Fairfax County schools says their understanding is that the delays were the result of human error, and that colleges the awarded students applied to were notified of the awards. Governor Youngkin says the delay potentially materially impacted the families involved, and may also have been violations of the Virginia Human Rights Act.
TJHS in Fairfax is one of the nation's most prominent high schools.
