Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) has signed the state budget amendments, one week after they passed the General Assembly, and several months later than normal. With the signing, a sales tax holiday will now take place next month, and tax rebates should go out by December.
The tax rebates are $200 for individuals and $400 for couples. The General Assembly agreed to them rather than than tax cuts, There is also an increase in the standard deduction.
Democrats say what the Governor signed is mostly a Democratic package. Youngkin had lobbied for income and corporate tax cuts, a sticking point for the Democratic-majority State Senate.
