Would you like your job to consist of eating ice cream? Do you want your boss to be legendary West Coast rapper Snoop Dogg (Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.)?
No, we’re not describing a fever dream to you. This is a real job opportunity, according to a job application website for the position. Per the site, global HR firm Deel has partnered with Snoop to find an “an International Ice Cream Taster (IICT)” for $10,000.
Snoop’s Dr. Bombay ice cream brand is made with real fruit and real cream, according to Dr. Bombay foods. Flavors currently include: Peanut Butter Jelly Time, Strawberry Cream Dream, Tropical Sherbet Swizzle, Iced Out Orange Cream, Long Beach Fruit Cart, Sticky Caramel Apple and Baked Blueberry Muffin.
Dr. Bombay is inspired by Snoop’s vision, the site explained. He wants it to be “more than just dessert,” to represent a “whole vibe built on nostalgia, contrast and flavor, “built to hit.”
“The bar for hiring at Dr. Bombay? You have to know your stuff, but you also gotta know how to chill,” said the Deel hiring page. “That’s hard to find anywhere, and it’s exponentially harder when you’re limited to your city.”
It might seem like a “publicity stunt dressed up as a job posting,” but the application page refuted that notion. This is a real position with real compensation, said Deel.
Applicants are asked to provide their location, social media handles, their ice cream eating habits and their familiarity with Dr. Bombay’s flavors. They are also asked to craft their own social media post about flavor.
Snoop might be more associated with substances other than ice cream, but he is a longtime friend of food and decorating diva Martha Stewart. Perhaps his foray into the world of desserts isn’t that surprising.
