NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — They’re moooo-ving in again.
The colorful fiberglass cow sculptures from the “Cow Parade” installation series have returned to the five boroughs, with 78 bovines gracing eight locations in the city.
The first herd was unveiled in the city 21 years ago, when local schoolchildren and artists helped pick each cow’s vibrant coating. Some of those cows were stolen or defaced, but the last cattle standing were eventually auctioned off for charity.
The 2021 installation is scaled back, with fewer cows and new artists involved, and will be on display through September. They’ll thn be auctioned off to benefit God’s Love We Deliver, a charity focused in delivering meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other illnesses.

Organizers told the New York Times they’re trying their hardest to avoid a repeat of the thefts and damages done to the cows in 2000. Jerome Elbaum, the 81-year-old founder of CowParade, said this time the cows are being placed in much more visible locations.
“That event was one hell of a learning experience for us,” Elbaum, told the paper. “We were very naive in those days.”
