NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The iconic Grand Central Oyster Bar is set to make a comeback next month after plenty of COVID-19 troubles.
The Manhattan eatery announced it would reopen Sept. 7.
“We relish the opportunity to be of service again, and fill your hearts, and ours, with joy and do what we do best; offer an amazing experience to our beloved New Yorkers and to our friends from all over the world,” the restaurant says on its website.
The reopening also means new hours — Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., while closed on weekends.
The restaurant, which first opened in 1913, shuttered seating during the pandemic, but had takeout options for a portion of time, according to its social media pages.
Operations continued Sept. 30, 2020, but then closed a few weeks later due to a lack of business with less foot traffic in the transit hub and pandemic capacity restrictions in place at that time.
According to Gothamist, there will also be to-go options for those within five blocks, and customers will be asked to wear masks when not eating or drinking.
