NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- MTV announced a star-studded first round of performers who will be taking the stage for the 2021 Video Music Awards next month in Brooklyn.
Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, Lorde, Camila Cabello and Machine Gun Kelly are the first five confirmed performers for the Sept. 12 award show — but more are to come.
The 2021 VMAs will return to the Barclays Center and go on in front of a live audience.
Rodrigo burst on to the music scene over the past year, and has quickly become one of music’s biggest stars behind her hits “Driver’s License” and “good 4 u.”
Lil Nas X has had his fair share of attention on him this year as well, thanks in part to the massive music videos for “Montero” and “Industry Baby.”
Meanwhile, Lorde is finally back after a long layover between her previous album “Melodrama” and her next release “Solar Power,” which comes out Friday.
Machine Gun Kelly has undergone a musical transformation from rapper to pop-punk star, and will debut on the VMAs stage, guitar in hand.
And Camila Cabello is back at the VMAs, where the former Fifth Harmony member will perform her song “Don’t Go Yet.”
Justin Bieber and Megan Thee Stallion lead the way in this year’s VMA nominations, which land in gender-neutral categories.
