NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A retired flight attendant will be pushing a beverage cart from Boston to Lower Manhattan to honor the victims of 9/11.

Paul "Paulie" Veneto, from Braintree, Massachusetts, often worked United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston to Los Angeles.

He knew many of the crew members onboard the flight when the plane crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

On August 21, the 62-year-old will embark on a 220-mile journey from Logan International Airport to Ground Zero to pay tribute to his colleagues and all the flight crews lost on 9/11.

Veneto said flight attendants were the "absolute first responders of 9/11."

"I'm doing this because it's really an untold story of heroics. What was done," Veneto said. "I can't even comprehend the chaos that was going on up there... What people don't realize, this country came together up there at 30,000-feet. That's when we stood up against these people."

American Airlines Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, United Airlines Flight 93 and American Airlines Flight 77 are written on the sides of the cart.

Photos of the crew members lost in those flights are featured on the top of the cart.
