NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Mets placed acting General Manager Zack Scott on administrative, just hours after he pleaded not guilty to DWI charges, the team announced on Thursday.
"The Mets have placed Zack Scott on administrative leave until further notice," the team tweeted. "Mets Team President Sandy Alderson will be assuming Zack’s responsibilities."
On Thursday morning, Scott, 44, pleaded not guilty to a first-offense DWI charge, in addition to three other traffic related charges, according to White Plains court records. His next appearance is scheduled for Oct. 7.
Scott was caught asleep at the wheel in his car just after 4 a.m. Tuesday in White Plains, police said.
Scott refused a breathalyzer test, but failed a field sobriety test, according to officials.
After the arrest came to light Wednesday, the team said it was “disappointed” by the allegations.
According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, Scott was at the home of team owner Steve Cohen the night of his arrest for a team foundation fundraiser.
The Mets were off Wednesday, but return to the field Thursday for the final month of the season, sitting five games out of first place.
Scott assumed the acting role after ex-GM Jared Porter was fired following an ESPN report revealed that he had sent lewd photos and unsolicited texts to a female reporter in 2016 while working for the Chicago Cubs.
