NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for a suspect after a 75-year-old man was sucker punched in an unprovoked attack while walking in Midtown on Thursday.

The victim was walking on Lexington Avenue near East 50th Street at about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday when police said he was approached by a stranger who punched him in the face with a closed fist.

EMS transported the man to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. He suffered a fractured orbital, also known as a broken eye socket.

Authorities said that suspect fled on foot, traveling south on Lexington Avenue toward East 49th Street.

Police released photos of the suspect late Thurday night, and noted that he was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
