Where hip-hop meets classical music | In the kitchen with 12th Street Catering

Hip-hop and classical music normally exist in two very different worlds, but one group from Philadelphia is shattering those genre boundaries. The Illharmonic Orchestra (www.theephantomhiphop.com) performs hip-hop/classical mashups, covers, and original songs, all with a full orchestra. They were the first hip-hop group to perform at the Kimmel Center and have brought a whole new audience to Carnegie Hall. Racquel Williams talks with the group's founders, husband and wife duo “Thee Phantom” Jeffrey McNeill and “The Phoenix” Andrea Coln- McNeill. Then, on Shara in the City, things are heating up in the kitchen at 12th Street Catering (www.12stcatering.com), where they’re preparing for the Les Dames d'Escoffier Heritage Dinner honoring chef Michelle Leff with the Outstanding in Her Field Award. Shara Dae Howard gets a cooking lesson and a taste test.
