With just four hours remaining until the 8 p.m. deadline, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a last-minute plea for President Trump to extend his ultimatum by two weeks to allow diplomacy to "run its course". Dubbed the "Islamabad Accord," the proposal also requests that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz for the same period as a gesture of goodwill to avert a massive U.S. military strike. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the President has been briefed on the offer and a response is forthcoming, even as Trump continues to warn that "8 p.m. is happening" and that an entire "civilization will die tonight" if no deal is reached. While Iranian officials are reportedly reviewing the plan "positively," they remain firm on refusing a temporary ceasefire without significant U.S. concessions, leaving the region on the brink of total war.
