Ladies and gentlemen, it is tax day. Oh, that's my favorite day of the year. I love tax day. I really do. It is awesome. Tax day is just just so glorious. Oh, Charlie, I love paying taxes. I really do. It's wonderful. Yeah, today's the day.\n\n00:29\nthat it really is because um we, I don't want to say celebrate, commiserate paying taxes to a government who wasted on ridiculous spending. One thing they need to teach in schools, and I'm talking about in high school.\n\n00:51\nYou need to take a class, some people do in economics, but I don't know if they really cover how taxes work. Because I will guarantee you, if you were to ask the average high school student, how long have we had a federal income tax in this country? When did that start?\n\n01:15\nThey'd probably go, oh, well that started in 1776 because that's when the nation was founded and I am learning all of that in school at the Learing Center. I'm at the Learing Center learning. Well, that hasn't the case. In fact, our founding fathers, these guys who had just come off fighting a revolution over taxation without representation, they wrote the constitution with very, very clear limits.\n\n01:44\nArticle 1, Section 9, direct taxes had to be apportioned by population. No national income tax, period. And the federal government ran just fine off tariffs and excise taxes, kind of like what President Trump wants to do now. That's how the framers intended all of this. Small, limited, out of your wallet. Well, then we fast forward to the Civil War, even then when Lincoln\n\n02:13\nhad little income tax. It was small and it was temporary. A wartime income tax in 1861, that was 3 % on incomes over $800. It's sunset in 1872, crisis over, tax gone. That's how it's supposed to work. But then the progressives at the time who never sleep.\n\n02:39\nIn 1894, they slipped a permanent income tax into the Wilson-Gorman tariff act. The Supreme Court took one look at that and said, nope. Then they tried it again. Pollock versus Farmers Loan and Trust Company, 1895. Five to four decision ruled it unconstitutional. You see, back then, the justices actually defended the Constitution. Can you imagine that? So then what did the progressives do? They went around the Constitution.\n\n03:09\nIn 1909, they ran through the 16th Amendment. But what did they say? Well, they said what they always say, what they still say today. Don't worry, it's only going to tax the rich. Woodrow Wilson signed the Revenue Act of 1913. Top rate was 7 percent, and that was only over incomes, only on incomes over $500,000 in today's money. Seven percent.\n\n03:38\nCould you imagine only paying 7 % taxes and that was the top rate at the time? The bottom bracket, 1 % if you made over $3,000. Well, they said it was only gonna be temporary. Within four years, World War I, the top rate shot to 77%. Then we had FDR and the New Deal that turned it into a permanent wealth distribution machine.\n\n04:06\nBy World War II, the top marginal rate hit 94%. Think about that, % during World War II.\n\n04:15\n94 %\n\n04:17\nThey took almost everything that successful Americans had.\n\n04:23\nThat's pretty unbelievable. And once they had the power to tax Americans, uh incomes directly, uh they had the power really to control everything. The IRS became the enforcement arm of the administrative state. The tax code ballooned from just a few pages in 1913 to 70,000 pages of rules and loopholes and penalties today.\n\n04:50\nThis is literally how the big government exploded. Every great society program, every green energy BS, every bureaucratic empire, all funded by taking more and more of your money before you even see it. Now, the way they sold that, you know, them going in and taking money out of your paycheck was, oh, this is going to be ease and convenience, ease and convenience. That's what it's going to be. But it really wasn't.\n\n05:22\nIt was to make sure that there was no possibility of a tax revolt in this country.\n\n05:31\nbecause they knew what they were planning. They knew they were going to increase the income tax and they knew you were going to revolt. So they wanted to make sure that that couldn't happen. So they just take it out of your paycheck.\n\n05:46\nand they weaponized it. Remember when the IRS was caught targeting Tea Party groups under Obama? Remember Lois Lerner? Remember Biden's plan for 87,000 armed IRS agents aimed at the middle class while the ultra-rich still find every loophole? That's the way the progressive designed the system 100 years ago. And it's still into effect, still in effect right now.\n\n06:15\nBut they always say, it's just going to affect the rich. Oh, it's just going to. No, it affects everybody, every single one of us. Armed IRS agents is what Joe Biden wanted.\n\n06:26\nYeah, that's pretty amazing. Let's go to Warren in Batesburg, Leesville. How you doing, Warren? Hey, doing well, Charlie. Yes, sir. just had a proposal been wanting to put out for a while now, but much like Roosevelt, FDR didn't like the idea of federal employees unionizing because that is dictating to the taxpayers what to do with their money. uh I suggest\n\n06:55\nthat those who get 10 % or more of their benefits to live or off of welfare, SNAP, TAMF, whatever, it's a voluntary deal. For two years, you aren't eligible to vote. It's a rolling two years from the last time you received a payment. I like it. Because otherwise these people keep voting in, hey, I want more money. Yeah. I want more money. That's who they always vote for, the people that give them the most money.\n\n07:23\nAnd therefore, has to be voluntary. You want money from us? Okay, then you forfeit temporarily the means of oh you telling us how much we're going to give you. Yeah. Essentially what that is. And it has to be rolling two years, you know, going on. Otherwise, they stop just in time to vote real quick and then, okay, I'm going to vote back. Yeah, you're exactly right. That's a good idea, Warren. I appreciate it. Charlie, actually, the income tax protects the wealthy.\n\n07:51\nWell, hold on, because I'm going to break that down to you coming up in just a little bit. They don't get income like you and I do while working. They get investment returns. Let me tell you how messed up the tax system is. If you make money by going to work and you get a paycheck,\n\n08:13\nYou know what kind of taxes you pay, exorbitant income tax. However, if you use money to make money,\n\n08:25\nyou pay a lower rate on your income. That's the honest truth.\n\n08:34\nSo let's say you go to work and you make $1,000. Or you invest and you make $1,000. That's income, right? Not according to the IRS. If you work, if you earn your money by the sweat of your brow, you get taxed more than people who sit at their laptop and do a little clickety, clickety, clicky on some of the trades that they do. That's pretty amazing. I want to go to Paul in Hickory. Paul, welcome.\n\n09:03\nCharlie, always a pleasure to talk to you, my friend. Hey, they did a study a while back, and I always like to ask people this question. How much does the average American pay in taxes, totally, either out of every $100? How much of that goes to taxes, either state, federal, local, and directly or indirectly? And I ask most people, oh, 30%, $40 out of 100, not even close. It's $68. They did this study. Well, people don't realize-\n\n09:33\nLet's say you go to, mean, immediately they take money out of your check right away and then you pay uh real estate tax on your property. Okay, well, that's a tax. You you get your car renewed and into license and all, that's a tax. uh it's the indirect taxes that people never even think about. You go to a restaurant, the restaurant owner, he pays property tax on the restaurant, you know, for the property there. Well, who pays that? Well, he writes the check.\n\n09:59\nBut who really pays it? It's added to the cost of the meal that you just paid for. Yeah. And it goes on and on when he pays his employees the money that he has to take out in taxes that has to be matched by him. Yeah. Where does he get that money added to the cost of the meal? Right. I mean, and it just goes it goes so far beyond the truck that delivers the food pays road taxes and taxes. They bought the truck. They had to pay taxes on the truck when they bought it. And that's added to the cost.\n\n10:28\nof the guy who delivers the food, the company that delivers the food, will add it to the cost of the food that the restaurant owner has to pay. I mean, it just goes on and on and on. you can, I mean, you look like gas, the gas station, pay property taxes to add it to the cost of the That's right. government immediately taxes gas at, you know, 25 cents per gallon, 50, 60 cents a gallon. In California, something like 80 cents a gallon, something like that. In California, the state of California makes more money.\n\n10:58\noff of a gallon of gas than the oil company does. Yeah, I believe it. It's unbelievable. to get that gas, that oil out of the ground. You're right. You're right. Paul, I appreciate it, buddy. Thank you. We'll be right back. Bruce Bannister said that the new tax bill here in South Carolina, you know the one that doesn't comply with the one big beautiful bill?\n\n12:04\noh These words actually came out of his mouth. Actually came out of Bruce Banner's mouth. He said that the new tax code in South Carolina would ensure that no South Carolinian, no South Carolina resident pays more tax than necessary. He said that. He literally said that. He said...\n\n12:33\nHe said that this new tax bill, nobody's going to be paying more than, really? Really?\n\n12:43\nThe Freedom Caucus showed you guys how to cut $500 million.\n\n12:51\nout of your budget. You guys were the ones that increased the budget over a billion dollars over last year on silly things like Lesbian Podcasts. Now tell me something, if you are a taxpayer and you have to pay for a Lesbian Podcast, don't you believe you're being overtaxed? Oh, oh, oh, oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait a minute. Last year they ran a budget surplus of 1.7 billion.\n\n13:22\nSo what does that mean, Bruce Bannister? Does that mean you're being overtaxed? And then what did our wonderful state legislature do? I said, well, well, look at her. We got ourselves $1.7 billion more than we expected. Well, how y'all wanna do, what y'all wanna do? Give this back to the constituents? No, we ain't gonna do that, we gonna spend it. Let's increase that budget, 1.7 billion.\n\n13:50\nThat'll be a good thing. Oh, those constituents, they can tighten their belts just a little bit better. We got spending to do here in Columbia.\n\n14:01\nThey don't care. They don't care. Let's go to Jay and Wilford. You go to work, get up every day, work your tail off for a little bit of money, and then they catch the hell out of it. Yeah.\n\n14:31\nAfter it's taxed, then you go buy some groceries. And guess what? That tax money that you just got is taxed again. That's right. And then you go buy gasoline or fuel and yet it's taxed again. Yes. We are over overtaxed. uh But the heck of it is, Jay, if you buy something substantial like a home or a vehicle,\n\n14:59\nYou pay taxes on that when you purchase it, and then you have to pay taxes every year just for the privilege of owning it. Exactly. ah My wife and I's 15 year olds turning 16 next month. So we went and bought a car, a used car. Right. Okay. So once we bought the used car, of course you have to pay all those taxes, road taxes, all that crap. And then...\n\n15:28\nthe county that we lived in, not even a month later, sent us a property tax on the car. Yeah. Yeah. So we could own it. Right. For the privilege of owning it. Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy. It is so crazy how much they tax us to death and then.\n\n15:51\nthey want to give them some of the raise. Oh yes, that's right because they deserve it, right? I appreciate it. Jay, let's go to David and Lawrence. David, how you feeling about taxes today, David? Oh my goodness, funny story for you. When my youngest son started working at a fast food restaurant when he was in his teens, he brought home his first paycheck almost in tears.\n\n16:16\nAnd he said, dad, I was supposed to make so much money. said, let me see your stub. And I showed him, said, federal tax, state tax, city tax. I said, welcome to the Republican party. Yeah. Exactly right. Once they realize, once they realize how bad they're hit, they, they change pretty quick. Let's go to Dean in Cashville. Dean, happy, happy tax day. Oh, yes. Everybody out there. I want to share.\n\n16:47\nthe story that I've shared before, how when the Air Force came to Congress back in the 90s, maybe 80s, and revealed they had done research on the B-1B bomber development, Congress members asked, where did you get the money? And they said, well, we saved it from this other program. Congress members then turned around and cut\n\n17:16\nthe other program. There is no incentive for anybody up there to save any money. And honestly, that is our money. Thank you for what you do, Charlie. You are right. Thank you, buddy. I appreciate it. Let's go to Mike and Inman. Mike, happy tax day. That's not too happy for my wife and I. I know.\n\n17:43\nOh uh\n\n18:13\nfor a 1987 Ford pickup truck. When I registered, the state of South Carolina charged me 300 sales tax on a $500 car. $300 sales tax on a $500 car? Yes, sir. Gracious. I looked at the lady and I said, ma'am, I think you've mistaken about that. She said, oh, no, the law says $300 on used vehicles. Yeah, that's godlady.\n\n18:42\nI'm telling you what, I appreciate it, Mike. If you, this is the truth. If you got paid, let's say you got paid every week and you got paid in cash and you went to your business manager and they said, okay, Charlie, here's your pay for the week. Here you go, John Q. Public. Now, if you'll step over there,\n\n19:08\nThese are the tax people, you're gonna have to pay them now. And then you went down the line, all right? What am I gonna pay here? I gotta pay federal income tax, gotta pay this tax, gotta pay state tax, county tax, car. By the time you got to the end of that line.\n\n19:28\nthere would be a revolt. And I got to thinking about Mrs. Daniel Boone, my first grade teacher. And she had a yardstick and you were going to learn how to make change. But we had those little penny things, you know? Right. Those little coin holders. Yeah. And they stayed in the classroom, but somebody had the nickel, somebody had the dimes, whatever. And she would say, OK, the quickest way to 25 cents and not a quarter.\n\n20:42\nYou couldn't use a quarter. Yeah. So we had, we had a, there was five of us at each table and that's how we learned. Yeah. And you know, today that's that idea is just out the window, but I've been listening to this about the taxes and everything. And I'll tell you what a really busty chops when you're on Medicare and you know, they take, they started out, I think it was 150 or $160 out of it.\n\n21:11\nokay because you know you've got to pay your part right yeah but anyway anyway so so they come up and and and trump gives us that 2.5 and it's not that i'm not grateful because i am but then they go up on the price to 210 so i totally wiped out the race yeah i understand they will always get their money they always will every single time two steps\n\n21:40\nforward and four steps back. does seem that way. I appreciate it, Richard. Thank you. Maybe Congress needs Mrs. Daniel Boone with her ruler of their smack and I'm said, no, you will not raise taxes. But who does pay taxes? If you were one of the Americans that are paying taxes today or have paid taxes all throughout the year last year,\n\n22:10\nDid you know that you are in the 60 % majority? Listen to this, listen to me. 40 % of Americans do not pay federal income tax. 40 %!\n\n22:31\nCharlie, that's not true. I pay income tax. They take my taxes out of my paycheck. Yeah, but if when you file your taxes, you get it all back, that's not paying federal income tax. You pay zero.\n\n22:47\nSo they're always out there doing, we're tax the rich. We gotta tax the rich. We're just gonna tax the rich. Well, how much do the rich actually pay in taxes? The top 1 % of earners, top 1 % of earners, adds around $682,000. The top 1 % of earners pay 38.4 % of all federal income taxes.\n\n23:17\nThat's a huge chunk. The top 10%.\n\n23:22\npay 76 % of all income taxes federal. The top 50 %\n\n23:33\nHow much do you think the top 50 %? JJ says that he believes that the top 50 % of wage earners in this country pay 70%. You said 70%. You would be wrong.\n\n23:53\nI've been wrong before. uh The top 50 % of wage earners in this country are responsible\n\n24:06\nfor 97.7, almost 98 % of all federal income taxes. That means the bottom 50%.\n\n24:21\npay less than 3 % of federal income tax, 2.7 % to be exact. So when these liberals out there, when you see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at the Met Gala with the tax the rich dress, the rich are already taxed. They're already taxed.\n\n24:45\nBut you see, there's an interesting thing. You know, when Joe Biden was hiring those 87,000 armed IRS agents, said, no, we're going after the rich. We're going to go after the rich. No, you're not. You're not going after the rich. And I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why the IRS goes after the middle class more than anybody else. Because if you go out to the mailbox,\n\n25:11\nand there's a letter from the IRS and it says, hey, I kinda made a mistake on that last return. You owe us $500. What do you do?\n\n25:23\nWell, you cuss, you go inside, you get out the checkbook, you write the check, you put it in the envelope and you send the $500 in. That's what you do. What do the rich do? Let's say they get a tax bill or they get a letter from the IRS that says, yeah, I made a little bit of a mistake here, you owe us $500. You know what they do? They don't go get a check. They call their accountant.\n\n25:52\nor they call their attorney. And those people get in touch with the IRS. And now the IRS knows that they got a lot. You see, you are the low hanging fruit. Because they know if you get a letter from them, you're just going to pay it. You're not even going to ask questions really. You're going to be mad. You're going to be upset.\n\n26:14\nBut you're not going to fight it. And another thing, my wife and I pay a considerable amount of money every year to have our taxes done. We hire a professional to do it because we don't want to get in trouble with the IRS.\n\n26:33\nBut ours is pretty basic.\n\n26:38\nIf you have to hire someone\n\n26:42\nto do your taxes for you so that you can make sure that you're taking advantage of everything that the tax code allows, then our tax code is unfair.\n\n26:55\nIf it is too complicated for the average American to figure out, then it's just too complicated, way too complicated.\n\n27:10\nAnd we're not talking about, you know, the 1040EZ. Boy, I remember when filling out those, that was a breeze.\n\n27:17\nBut still, in order for you to take advantage of everything in the tax code, you don't have that information, you gotta go hire somebody to do it. So there's another reason that the tax code's unfair. People always ask me, what about the flat tax or the fair tax? I'm a big proponent of the fair tax. I think that's a great way to go. I know people don't understand it. I know there's been a lot of bad press about it from, you know, mainly people that don't understand it.\n\n27:47\nBut we've got to do something about our tax code in this country because we are being fleeced. Let's just stop calling this tax day and calling it Fleecing the American Citizen Day. We'll be right back. Bruce, what do think about tax day? They suck. In 22, we sold our house and I sold a little over eight acres. Some property I bought in 93. We closed on the same month and the proceeds, I got off the land sale. I was\n\n29:02\ngood toward the house so it's a ten thirty one exchange where i messed up i didn't put in the right bank you're supposed to put in exchange bank for it to count it's supposed to stay there for a certain amount of time you give the bank fifteen hundred bucks to hold your money and then you can pull it out of that banking and put it toward the next piece of property back right because it was a wrong bank it cost me thirty five thousand dollars good night i'm just on top of the the regular taxes just that\n\n29:32\nThat sale cost me 30 and I was just in a fortunate situation. could cut him a check for it, but it still sucked, man. Yeah. mean, it Again. So how did you find out that you had made that mistake? My accountant told me. Oh, did he not tell you before you put it in the bank? No. Oh. Talk to him about selling the property. Gotcha.\n\n30:00\nGotcha. And he said, oh man, you should have put in an exchange bank and that way, oh my goodness. You see, but when things are that complicated, then there's nothing fair about it. Right? mean, you know, I thought I'd done the right thing. I had the property from 93 to 22 and all I've done was pay property tax on it. Yeah. that cost me a man. But um I just wanted to say basically, to everybody, hey, you got it pretty good down here, even though it's kind of screwy sometimes with the guys down in Columbia. It's certainly not as good as it could be, right? That is exactly right. You're exactly right. It could be a whole lot better.\n\n32:49\nI guess at the top of the hour news break, guess where they had McMaster talking about this is the step forward to doing away with the state sales tax. You remember Fairfax County, Virginia. They were the ones that really initiated the whole. If you are a family member,\n\n33:19\nor a parent that stands up at a school board meeting and you object to them teaching your children all this woke BS that you are considered a domestic terrorist. Do you remember that? They even got Merrick Garland to go along with that. And the National Association of School Boards, you remember all of that. Well, they drugged the father out whose daughter had been raped by somebody who raped somebody before. And he had a real issue with that? Yeah. Well, guess what they've done?\n\n33:50\nFairfax County Virginia School Board is no longer going to be recognizing, hold on to your hats, Veterans Day.
