HOUR 4 - an inspiring story about seven stolen dogs in China who escaped a meat-trade truck and trekked 11 miles home as a unit, led by a corgi that refused to leave an injured German shepherd behind.

00:00 We were just talking about China a couple of minutes ago, and I want to thank the texter for sending me this story because it is a great one. I know we got a lot going on in the world right now, um but there are some really great stories out there that are happening in China. um There are black market meat dealers, and we're not talking about 00:28 pigs and chickens and cows. We're talking about dogs. There are bandits out there that will actually steal people's dogs and take them to be processed as meat. And this happens a lot, a lot. 00:51 And this story is about some dogs that were headed towards that fate. Seven dogs were stolen, not just stolen, they were dognapped and being transported for the dog meat trade. And somehow they escaped. Not one, not two, but all seven. 01:19 escaped. They jumped out of a moving truck and this is where the story gets really interesting because you know I love my dogs. These dogs when they jumped out of that truck they didn't scatter, they didn't all go in different directions, they didn't panic, they organized and the leader of the whole thing was a corgi. You know a little corgi. 01:50 Short legs, cute butt, big ears, bigger attitude. 01:58 Corgi's name was Dupang. Dupang translated into English means big fat because they usually are. Well big fat took the front of the pack and witnesses say as they trekked home big fat kept turning around making sure that nobody got left behind and there were larger dogs in the pack. Golden retrievers, labs, basically running protection. 02:28 And in the middle of the whole pack was a German shepherd. The German shepherd was injured. He was limping. And the rest of the pack, at the direction of Big Fat, slowed down their pace to match his. Think about that. 02:47 These dogs refused to let the injured German shepherd be left behind. So they slowed down so that he could keep up. 02:58 They traveled about 11 miles over two days along highways and open terrain and they did it together. No GPS, no phones, no plan. Just instinct and loyalty. And they made it. Every single one of them ended up back home and safe. Now here's the part that really hit you. People who saw the video said these dogs moved like a unit, like a family. 03:29 One guy said they looked like little brothers in distress moving together. And I tell you what, you watch a story like that and you start realizing that in a lot of ways, dogs get it better than we do. Nobody gets left behind. You protect the weak, you stick together and you get home. 03:57 That kind of sounds like a lot of people in our United States military. That's what they do. Seven dogs led by a corgi walked 11 miles through traffic to get home, didn't leave a single one behind. That's leadership from a little corgi. That's amazing to me. I love stories like that. I mean, you know how Sheila and I are with our pups. We love them. 04:25 to hear something like that is just absolutely amazing. That's why when we see people that abuse dogs in any way, it really, as a society, it infuriates us because we know how kind and loving and gentle and enthusiastic dogs are. 04:51 we want to take care of them. I mean, they really are. They are an absolute gift from God. They truly are. 04:59 They've got instinct. Our dogs can read us. You know what, I'll tell you what happened today. Usually when I get home, I had some running around to do today, this morning, did some shopping for Sheila, well us, grocery shopping, went out. And usually when I get home, my wife will get out of her chair, because she's usually working, and she'll come to greet me. Well today she didn't do that. 05:28 She was busy working on a design for the company that she works with. She's working on this design. I came home, said hey, she said hey back, but she didn't get up. So little Sophie, 05:44 She took that to mean that mom is mad at dad. That daddy's done something wrong. So she was kind of walking around kind of gingerly like, uh-oh, what did daddy do now? They had to reassure her that everything was okay. But man, they know you. You think you're teaching your dogs, they're teaching you. And I'll be honest with you, sometimes the lesson that they teach you is a lot better than the lessons we teach them. 06:11 My main concern about those dogs is to keep them safe, keep them healthy, and more importantly, happy. I want, because they bring so much joy into our lives, I want to make sure that they are experiencing joy as well. So that's why we dode on them. We let them sleep in the bed. 06:31 We don't scold them any more than we have to. And when we do scold them, it's usually for their own safety. 06:39 And I'm telling you what, absolutely love those little guys and I know you do too. Excuse me, got choked up there. WRD Talk Line 800-9050-989. That's also the Common Sense Retirement Planning Text Line. We'll be right back. It's the Charlie James Show. News Talk 98.9, WORD, the voice of the Carolinas. All right, let's go to the WRD Talk Line. We'll talk to Ralph Engafne. Ralph, welcome. 07:08 And you know, the Bible says we entertain angels unaware. Yeah. Yeah. I believe those are our pets a lot of times. Yeah. Quite possible. My wife, my wife had diabetes and high blood pressure and we have a little Jack Russell named Lucky. And so she used to sleep with us. So one morning she started bouncing around. My wife said, what she did to us? don't know. 07:34 And that was right before eight o'clock. And the next day she was on the side of the bed and was doing that and beating it up. And the third day she was in the bed with us. And the Lord said, check her sugar. Her sugar was at 75. That smell that, is it ketosis when you're in diabetic sugar drop? That smell was not normal to Lucky. And so she was warning us. So she's a registered assistance dog. 08:04 She takes care of my son now. My son has Asperger's. She keeps them laughing and focused. Yeah, they are amazing. They really, really are. I mean, they are, in a lot of cases, they can be lifesavers, right? Yeah. Yeah, I appreciate it, Ralph. Thank you very, very much. Sorry to hear about your wife, by the way. Let's go to Patrick in Pickens. How you doing, Patrick? Good, Charlie. uh Just wanted to share story. So I grew up in Alabama. Don't hold that against me. oh 08:34 I'm a bulldog fan at heart. There you go. Good man. So anyway, uh back as during the mid eighties and a friend of mine that lived across the street, one of my best friends, he had brought home a Siberian Husky and the Husky probably stayed there. I don't know, maybe a couple of months or whatever. It stay on the front porch and it would howl, you know, and his mother, my buddy's mother said, Travis, you got to get rid of this dog, you know. 09:02 So give it away, whatever. So he ended up giving it to a friend of ours who lived probably about 10 to 11 miles away. So he loaded the dog up, drove him to our buddy's house. And the next morning, that dog was sitting on the front porch. So he didn't follow him home, you know, I mean, right then. But that dog found, you know, come all the way back there. I mean, I thought that was just amazing, you know. 09:32 Yeah, that they could find their way back like that. their way back. So anyway, have a good one, I appreciate it. Go dogs, absolutely, in more ways than one. Yeah, they're absolutely amazing. I mean, you hear these stories about dogs. um There was one story where, I forget the circumstance, but the dog 09:55 The family moved and I don't know what happened, the reason that the dog didn't go with him. I don't know if it was by accident or by design, but this dog. 10:06 Gosh, I wish I could remember that story. This dog literally traveled halfway across the country to find his owners and he did it. I mean, some of these stories that you hear about these animals are just absolutely amazing. They have so much more sense in a lot of cases than humans do. I mean, you get four dogs together, they're gonna have a lot more sense than the entire dais of the ladies on the view. 10:36 That's a fact, scientifically proven. In fact, old Hoopie Goldberg, she doesn't understand why we need the Save Act. They say, she says, it's pointless. Take a listen to this. I'm sorry. don't apply to You have to present your ID when you go to vote. I always have to give them my driver's license. Yeah. So they can make sure that it's me. You don't have to do that. all have. I didn't have to do They all have to. You don't? 11:05 They have all this information in the voter registration. It's all the information that's there already. is suing the states so that they get that information, and a lot of that is very personal information. Well, you know what? A lot of information that we have given away ourselves is very personal information, which has allowed them to go in and get information you probably shouldn't give away. 11:26 But my point is, we have all the things in place. What is it? What is this about? I don't want to have to go you don't have good policies, you need to uh gerrymander votes and Well, he's only one who asked for extra votes. He's the only one, and he did it, and we heard him do it. It's not like I'm making it up. He said, if you can find me, that would be very helpful. So she done, she done, you know, I got to show in, and everybody on the day, I was just like, we don't have to show our ID to vote. You don't have to do that here. In fact, 11:56 You don't have to do it in any. 12:00 of the states surrounding Whoopi Goldberg. Not in New York, not in any state bordering New York do you have to show an ID to vote. None of them. 12:12 All we're asking is that you go by what the Constitution says and the Constitution says only citizens are allowed to vote. 12:24 So therefore, if I were a Supreme Court justice, I'd say that right there shows that you have to prove that you're a citizen. If only citizens are allowed to vote, how do you know someone's a citizen other than seeing some form of an identification? And all these people are out there, they're like, oh, oh, he's trying to federalize the elections. Well, what that actually did, that little thing in the Constitution kind of already took care of all that. 12:53 It says only citizens are allowed to vote. 13:00 Who determines citizenship? The federal government. You cannot be a citizen of a state and not a citizen of the federal government. You can't be a citizen of a county and not be a citizen of the federal government. 13:15 So therefore, that little clause is taken care of. And again, I'll say it again, this is the lowest bar ever set. 13:26 for restrictions on voting. All you gotta do is prove you're a citizen. And all these women are out there, they're whining, they can't, stop it. Stop it. On one hand, you wanna tell us how smart and how wonderful and how independent you are. And on the other hand, you're telling us you're too stupid to know how to go get a copy of your birth certificate. That's ridiculous. 13:54 I said, one of the easiest things in the world to do. Not about that. This is not about American citizens voting for the left. It's about non-citizens voting. They want to make sure they get to the polls. If they weren't, if they weren't afraid of that, why then? 14:15 Do they want to make sure that ICE isn't at polling stations? Anybody think about that? Why aren't they? Why are they so mad about that? Well, because they know exactly what's happening. Illegals are voting. 14:33 um The South Carolina Freedom Caucus has just issued this a minutes, a little while ago. They have filed a resolution that House leadership needs to take up immediately m to suspend a portion of the imposition of the user fee on gasoline and diesel fuel and the imposition of the road tax for 60 days. I think this is a great idea. That needs to be done. There's also a bill that is looking like it's getting a lot of support. 15:03 that would actually make ivermectin over the counter here in south carolina who who that would be good now remember this stuff might be done 15:12 Because all of these establishment Republicans, well, they want to make sure you think they're conservative. We'll be right back. It's the Charlie James Show, Newstalk 98.9, WORD, the voice of the Carolinas. All right, let's go to the phones with Todd DeRober in Mills River. How you doing, Robert? 15:29 Good. Chuck was just trying to call me. I hope he calls back. All right. with you that look here, man. The thing is, they ought to have, if I have to go down here to stores, show my ID, Charlie, to buy something. Yeah. Like beer or something. They ought to be able to show their ID to vote. Yeah. And I don't know why they're holding all that back and making it so dumb. They're so stupid. 15:57 You can debate against them anytime because they ain't got no ground. You just back them right off the cliff and they'll fall over because they'll get so angry at you because the truth hurts them so bad. The whole idea, the whole idea, Robert, and I appreciate you calling, the whole idea is to protect illegal aliens. 16:18 They are the number one priority of the folks on the left because they want them to vote, so they have to protect them. 16:28 18 year old college freshman just getting started in life gone. 16:37 Her name was Sheridan Gordon. She was a student at Loyola University in Chicago. She was out with her friends, walking to your campus early in the morning, and in a matter of seconds, everything changed. Police say a gunman approached the group and opened fire. Sheridan Gordon was shot in the head and killed, 18 years old. I want you to listen to what this Chicago alderman woman said about it. 17:05 to person who had a gun, might have startled this person at the end of the pier unintentionally. Sheridan Gorman. Unintentionally? I think this was just wrong place, wrong time. That's what she said. Just wrong place, wrong Normal things people. Here we go, here we go. Listen, listen. Walk around so that the kids were out doing normal things people do in the neighborhood. And it sounds like this might have been a wrong place, wrong time. uh 17:34 Wrong place, wrong time. 17:38 She was shot by an illegal alien. 17:43 who should have never been here to begin with. This wasn't wrong place, wrong time in some back alley. This is right there near college campus. She's out with friends doing what college kids do. And now her family is planning a funeral instead of a future. Police have made an arrest, 25-year-old illegal alien facing murder charges. And who are the Democrats blaming? Donald Trump. Today, in his first public comments, 18:13 on this tragedy, Pritzker was asked about his state sanctuary policies, which the Gorman family blames for Sheridan's death at the hands of an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. And Pritzker instead tried to place the blame on President Trump. I agree there have been real failures. Those failures, of course, extend beyond the borders of Illinois. That's their national failures, a failure to have. 18:37 comprehensive immigration reform, a failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst. He tried to go after the worst of the worst in Chicago. We tried to go after the worst of the worst in Minneapolis. He tried to do it in Baltimore, tried to do it in Charlotte and everywhere that he tried, the Democrats blocked him. So now they're trying to say that he didn't do enough. Did not do enough. 19:07 So should he be deported? Let's listen to Hakeem Jeffries. illegal immigrant has been charged with murdering a college student in Chicago last week. Do House Democrats believe if he's convicted, he's someone who should be deported? I'll look into the case. Do you expect any... I'll look into the case. I'll look into the case. 19:29 I this is a public safety question. Repeat offenders. Is the system, especially in sanctuary cities, are they actually protecting people? No. This guy had prior contact with law enforcement many times before the tragedy. 19:47 Sharon Gordon was not a headline. She was a daughter. She was a freshman. She was a young woman with her whole life ahead of 19:56 How many times do we have to hear this story? Illegal alien, random violence. 20:05 I'll look into the story. That's what Hakeem Jeffries says, I'll look into the story. 20:13 What we need to do is make sanctuary city status and it is, this is what I can't understand. It is illegal according to US code for you to harbor an illegal alien. It is illegal for you to give them sanctuary. It is illegal for you to hide them. All of those things are illegal. 20:43 Why can't we use U.S. to go after these sanctuary city mayors and aldermen and congressmen? 20:54 Just add this to another long list. Put her right up there with with Lake and Riley. 21:02 and Jennifer Nungare, and all of these people that were killed by illegal aliens who had come into contact with law enforcement time and time again. This is what sanctuary city status does to legal American citizens. And remember this, these are the people that they want to protect. These are the people that they will, these are the people that they want to protect so bad 21:28 that if you are working at TSA and Greenville Spartanburg Airport and you're not getting paid too bad for you, we've got to protect these illegal aliens. Tough darts, you're not getting your pay. We want to make sure the illegal aliens 21:46 will have a right to vote or whatever other right they want to give them. forget that all the fraud's going on. Forget that they're getting millions and millions, billions of dollars in federal funding, murdering American citizens. Forget all that. 22:10 they want to protect them. Because these days, that's their only job. We'll be right back. It's the Charlie James Show, News Talk 98.9, WORD, The Voice of the Carolinas. All right, welcome back to the program. Let's go to the phones and talk to Richard in Dallas. How you doing, Rich? Good, Charlie. Listen, that woman talked about that poor girl being at the wrong place at the wrong time on that pier and getting shot. Yeah. Man, she ought to be shot. 22:38 I'm telling you what, I don't get these people. really don't. But again, they've got to defend the illegal alien. I'm going tell you about the wrong place, the wrong time real quick. Years ago, my son was living with me. He's a grown man. had to come back home due to work situations. He lived with me while I was out riding the poor weather. was in the summertime and it was late at night. Well, I came home and it was dark. put the poor little rubber come in the house, sat down on the couch relaxing. 23:05 water car pull up in the driveway no big deal and uh... heard car door slam shut well i'm okay well i already walk i live in a mobile home i heard him i heard this person come across the gravel while restructuring front i'll pick tomorrow dot team levin and uh... i heard the door open the screen door open really yeah i'm telling this is a god's truth 23:32 This is why I don't understand why some men pull the trigger when they don't have to. I heard the screen door open, Charlie. Well, when I heard the screen door open, I throw that .45 off safe. It's already cocked. It's locked and locked and ready to pop. Throw it off safe, raise it up to the door, and the doorknob turned and the door flang open and a young man stepped in the door and I have a finger on the trigger. said, that's far enough. 24:00 And he stopped right there and throw his hands up in the air and uh started screaming. Well, what was this young man was at the house visiting my son and left to go get a pack of cigarettes. I came home while he was gone. He came back and just walked up into the house, Charlie. Yeah. Yeah. That's a scary situation. If the young man, listen to me, all you people listen to me, you gun carriers. 24:28 If the young boy would have been carrying a weapon, bringing it back to show it to my son, I'd killed him right there. I'd have shot him dead. Yeah. I'd have shot him dead right there on her door. That would have been being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Yeah, you're exactly right. Not out for a walk and somebody just walks up on you and pulls the trigger. You're right, Richard. Let's go to Chuck in Mills River. Chuck, what's going on with you, Hey, man, kudos to Richard and... 24:55 there because he's carrying a 1911 damn hippie. Yeah, big fan. Yeah, I that was awesome. But hey, I want to tell you, you were talking about dogs earlier, man. And I thought that was a spectacular story. just want to tell a real quick story about how my dog, one of my dogs long ago saved my wife and my life. My wife and I were laying there doing what married couples do. And we fell asleep. My wife had lit a candle and it burned all the way through and 25:25 I woke up, my dog could wake us up just by staring at us. He was really good at that. And I woke up, I was like, what's a dog on the bed for staring at me? And why is there a fire behind my dog? Oh my God. There's a fire. So I jump up out of bed and grab the first thing I could think of. It was actually getting pretty big. And I grabbed, didn't know it at the time, it was my favorite Bugs Bunny t-shirt. And I beat that fire to death. In the meantime, my t-shirt catches on fire. 25:54 And I'm like, oh no, what do I do with this? I'm in the house, gotta run. So I get running outside and I start, and I realize, oh no, it's my favorite Bugs Bunny t-shirt. So I start waving it, waving it, waving it, and that makes the fire all the brighter. And I'm like, and I hear all these horns honking and people yelling and cheering and stuff. And I'm like, what's going on? It's cold out here. And then I realized I'm standing there buck naked, waving a flaming t-shirt out in the middle. And Ty, this is up in Virginia. Tyson was let down for the second shift. 26:24 And there must have been 150 cars pulling out, watching me standing naked in my front yard, waving my Bugs Bunny t-shirt on fire. Just calling attention to your own self. But my dog saved our life. I'm here to tell a story, aren't I? That's exactly right. An embarrassing story, but a story nonetheless. Oh, no, it's one of my favorite stories. It's great. I can look back on it and laugh because I'm alive because you know what a cat would have done? 26:53 A cat would have run and we'd never known and everybody in the house had died. Cats are worthless except for killing mice. Dogs are awesome and I hope your dogs are doing well. You tell them we said, hey. We'll do it. oh Thanks for taking my call. I appreciate it. a good week. Thank you, Chuck. You too. Let's go to Larry in Cleveland County. How you doing, Larry? I'm doing great, sir. I also want to check back on a statement that was made. I was in the car so I couldn't call you. About somebody that was saying that we should... uh 27:19 cut back on driving and cut back on transportation. mean, I can't wrap my head around that kind of idiocy. Yeah, we should all just for about two months just stop driving, no trucks, no cars, turn all the power off in the house, bring the price of oil down. But here's the thing though, because what I don't think can 27:47 and that was the caller really understands is when did we stop driving? Exactly. COVID, right? Remember? Hardly anybody. I've been there. Did the price of gas plummet during COVID? at all. No, not at all. And he brought this mention up about our Marines and our military. Nobody wants to see our service people get hurt. Nobody, Charlie. But when you sign on the dotted line and you take that oath, you're not going into the Boy Scouts. 28:16 Yep, you're exactly right. I appreciate it, Larry. Thank you. Let's go to my buddy Dee and Thomas C. What's going on, my man? How are you, I'm doing good. How about you? How are you, my brother? I'm doing great. What's up, Listen, I just want to recap the uh conversation with Ken, you know, but, uh you know, uh everyone understands the uh concept of supply and demand. 28:46 And, uh, but, uh, to, expect anything like that to happen would be, uh, uh, pretty much like, uh, expecting to see your shadow in a dark room. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it just ain't, it ain't going to happen. And, uh, I just wanted to, uh, comment you in, uh, and, uh, and, and offer my appreciation to you for, uh, exemplifying the, uh, uh, 29:14 the seriousness of the SAVE Act. Yeah, it is. uh It's serious. I appreciate it. Exactly. I appreciate it, Dee. Thank you so much for your call tonight. mean, if we got to get that passed, how can we guarantee our elections are safe, right? Well, exactly. In other words, uh if it doesn't pass, is there any possibility that we could expect of a uh free and fair election of the people by the people? 29:43 going forward. Yeah. Well, this would absolutely sure it up. I appreciate it, Dee. Thank you. Now, John Thune is talking about putting this in some sort of a reconciliation bill. He talked about it today. Let's do a reconciliation bill. I got a better idea because you can't put everything in a reconciliation bill. We've got 200 bills sitting in the Senate. 200 bills. 30:14 do away with the filibuster at a time where it will benefit you or the Democrats are going to do away with the filibuster at a time where it will benefit them. 30:28 Think about that because that day is absolutely coming when the Democrats do away with the filibuster. They've already tried it. Nancy Pelosi is all behind it when they're in power. Why not do it when you're in power? That will almost guarantee that you stay in power for a long, long time. Y'all are going to get out of here. We will see you right back here tomorrow for the Wednesday edition. As always, we love you. God bless. Buckle up. Bye, y'all.
