While some view anarchy as the ideal form of governance, this complete suspension of power is exceedingly dangerous. Anarchism can appeal to the ego by seemingly avoiding the need for alternative solutions. However, the fundamental question remains: without a governing body, how can a large population effectively resolve disputes and determine just solutions? Democrats often seem shielded from the consequences of the policies they enact, though occasionally these policies have unintended negative effects on their own support base. A current example involves Mount Holyoke College, a private women's liberal arts college in South Hadley, Massachusetts. The college is a major employer in the town, and its push for higher local taxes is reportedly causing significant friction with the local community.
