This week, 52-year-old Eric Neuman was sentenced to 18 years in prison for Aggravated Arson.
The DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin says Neuman sent texts to his soon-to-be ex-wife, threatening that he would cause an explosion in their home.
Later that month, Neuman placed gasoline containers and propane tanks in their house and garage, and started a fire that caused an explosion that severely damaged their house and the homes of nearby neighbors.
No injuries were reported.
Berlin called the crime "an abhorrent case of domestic violence".
