Guest host Ryan Wrecker fills in alongside Kim St. Onge to kick off the show with a wide-ranging discussion spanning culture, media accountability, and national political debates. The opening segment features the RhinoShield Short List, where the hosts break down commentary from Bill Maher on immigration enforcement and news media coverage surrounding Hamas propaganda. They analyze military funding debates surrounding the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), emphasizing fiscal responsibility over budget cuts, and review soundbites from Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana while examining newsroom political leanings.
The hour moves into media ethics as Wrecker and St. Onge evaluate the firing of sports broadcaster Braden Bell by the Portland Trailblazers following the resurfacing of decade-old tweets written when he was 15. The hosts highlight the severe public backlash directed at NBC affiliate KGW-TV journalists for digging up adolescent social media posts. The second half of the hour features Kim on a Whim, sponsored by Missouri Brush Control, focusing on the botched execution attempt of death row inmate Christa Pike in Tennessee. The hosts criticize media narratives from outlets like TMZ that emphasize Pike's request to offer her last meal to the unhoused, framing it as "toxic empathy." The hour concludes with a historical look at public executions, including Sir Christopher Lee witnessing France's last public guillotine execution, and St. Onge sharing her personal reflections as a former media witness candidate for capital punishment cases.
