A family had to evacuate their Bucks County home Friday morning after authorities say the battery of a charging e-bike exploded.
Bristol Township Police say the explosion happened just after 10 a.m. inside a home on Aspen Lane in the Appletree Hill housing development.
Authorities say the explosion caught nearby furniture in the home on fire.
They say everyone in the home escaped, including some who had to leap from a second-floor window. One person suffered minor burns after they dragged the burning e-bike onto the home's porch and attempted to put the fire out with a garden hose.
Fire officials say the bike continued to reignite even after being doused with the hose. The house sustained heat damage.
An investigation into the fire remains ongoing.
