Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has released a statement a week after the deadly collapse in Grays Ferry, extending condolences to the families and friends of those killed, and saying they are working with investigators.
Stepan Shevchuk, Matthew Kane and Mark Scott Jr., all members of the Ironworkers union, were killed after part of the staircase fell, causing a partial collapse of the garage being built for CHOP.
In a statement, CHOP officials thanked first responders and city officials and said, in part: “We know there are questions about the future of the site, but CHOP’s current priority is to fully cooperate with government agencies as they seek to investigate the cause of this tragic incident.”
