The Phillies are a big step closer to getting an overhaul — not the team itself, though. Pinellas County in Florida has approved $85 million to fund its renovation of BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater.
The Business Journal reports the deal would keep the spring training Phils in Clearwater through 2047 — the team's 100th year there.
The Phillies are waiting for the city of Clearwater to approve more public funding for the $205 million project. The construction plan includes an expanded concourse, a rooftop fan deck and a new video board.
