Nearly $150M Market Street Bridge rehab project underway

A nearly $150 million construction project is underway to rehabilitate the bridges that carry Market Street over Amtrak and the Schuylkill Expressway. There will be traffic restrictions and closures in the overnight hours for the next month and a half around 30th Street Station. PennDOT says crews will be working on the bridges over I-76, the Schuylkill River Trail, and CSX Railroad tracks in Center City. Every night except Fridays and Saturdays, 76 West will be reduced to one lane between 30th Street and 676 interchanges from 9-10 p.m., then completely closed and detoured until 5 a.m. Drivers will be directed to exit at 30th Street and travel west on Schuylkill Avenue to access the ramps to 76 West and 676 East.
