A corrections officer with the Philadelphia Department of Prisons was killed in a motorcycle crash early Friday morning in Northeast Philly.
Officials tell our partners at NBC10 that Sergeant Devon Williams was on his way to work shortly before 7 a.m. when he crashed his motorcycle on Cottman Avenue near Walker Street in the city's Holmesburg neighborhood.
He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.
Officials say Williams was a 10-year veteran of the Philadelphia Department of Prisons and was assigned to the Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center as a staff deployment supervisor.
So far, no word on what caused the crash or if any other vehicles were involved.
