President Trump has nominated Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano to be ambassador to Slovakia.
Mastriano says he's "deeply honored and humbled."
The Republican ran unsuccessfully for Pennsylvania governor in 2022. He lost to Democrat Josh Shapiro.
Mastriano has not filed to run in the primary this year, but some of his supporters have started a write-in campaign.
Trump has endorsed Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity for governor.
