Warwick Hotel employees authorize strike if new deal isn't reached

Workers at another Center City hotel have voted to authorize a strike. This strike will take place if a new contract is not in place by 12 a.m. Thursday. Employees at the Warwick Hotel, just off Rittenhouse ... voted unanimously to authorize a strike ... and should they go on one ... they'd join workers at the Sheraton Downtown who have been on strike since June 21. Workers, represented by Unite Here Local 274, are negotiating for a minimum wage of $30 an hour for non-tipped workers, gratuity on banquets held at the hotel, and a 15-room daily quota for housekeepers, among other demands. The Warwick is also the fourth Center City hotel to potentially see a workers' strike during the current contract cycle. Workers at the Hampton Inn Center City and Wyndham Historic District hotels also hit the pickets lines, but both recently ratified new contracts.
