Marion Ramsey, who played Officer Laverne Hooks in the “Police Academy” franchise, has died. She was 73.
Ramsey passed away on Thursday at her home in Los Angeles, reported Variety.
While her death was confirmed by her management team at Roger Paul Inc., the cause has not been revealed.
Ramsey initiated the role of the squeaky-voiced law enforcement officer in the original 1984 comedy "Police Academy." She would go on to reprise the character in five subsequent sequels, most recently in 1989's "Police Academy 6: City Under Siege."
The actress was born in Philadelphia and first garnered success on the stage. She appeared in the orginal Broadway production of "Hello Dolly!" and co-starred alongside Bette Davis in the musical "Miss Moffat."
Ramsey's television credits included appearances on "Modern Family," "Beverly Hills, 90210," "The Nanny" and "MacGyver."
In 2015, she reunited with "Police Academy" co-stars Steve Guttenberg, Michael Winslow and Leslie Easterbrook to star in the science-fiction thriller "Lavalantula."
