“The Golden Bachelor” star Gerry Turner did not heed his granddaughters’ advice.

The 72-year-old widower looking for love on the newest iteration of the dating show spoke to The New York Times about his experience filming the series. He even revealed sharing a kiss on the first night, going against what he was told by his granddaughters – Payton, 21, and Charlee,16.

The ladies told their grandpa to not kiss any of the 22 women that viewers would see him meet on the premiere.

“I failed,” he told the publication.

He went on to say his season would have plenty of romance but not too much drama.

However, there was a “minor situation.”

There were reportedly intimate conversations held off camera, as Turner wanted to respect the women’s privacy.

“I don’t know what I means to be a ‘grandzaddy’ and I don’t know what ‘rizz’ is, and I really don’t know what it means to be trending. All those things are kind of immaterial to me. They don’t matter,” he said.

Turner was married to his high school sweetheart for 43 years. She passed in 2017.

“The Golden Bachelor” airs Thursday nights on ABC and the next day streams on Hulu.
