Julia Roberts got some interesting results.
Roberts appeared on the PBS program “Finding Your Roots” with host Henry Louis Gates, Jr. who shared some intriguing history.
Gates Jr. found while researching the Oscar winner’s family tree that she was not actually a Roberts. The man who was supposedly her great-great-grandfather, Willis Roberts, had died more than a decade even before her great-grandfather was born.
The “My Best Friend’s Wedding” actress’s great-great-grandmother Rhoda Suttle Roberts was married to Willis in the 1850s, him dying in 1864 created a time gap.

“Oh, wait… am I not a Roberts? the actress asked.
The host then detailed how public databases found other matches regarding Roberts to a person named Henry McDonald Mitchell Jr.
“We’re Mitchell’s?” She inquired.
Gates Jr. then told her she’s Julia Mitchell. Julia Roberts is not a Roberts, biologically.
The host continued, explaining how Mitchell was married at the time of his affair with Rhoda and had six of his own children.
“Wow,” Roberts exclaimed.
Gates further explained that Roberts and her newfound ancestors were traced back to 18th-century colonial Virginia.
