Elliot Stabler is coming home!
With Christopher Meloni’s long-awaited return to the “Law & Order” franchise just weeks away, a new teaser for his upcoming spin-off is giving fans a first look at what they can expect from the beloved character.
In a new promo for “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” Stabler is seen appearing to explain why he’s been gone from the NYPD so long.
“You know how so much time has passed that you can’t reach out?” the beloved character says to an unknown person. “Days turn into months turn into years, and I just kept waiting for the right moment.”
“Law & Order: Organized Crime” will follow as Stabler returns to the NYPD after suffering a devastating loss to battle the city’s notorious crime syndicates.
Meloni portrayed Stabler alongside Mariska Hargitay (Olivia Benson) on "Law & Order: SVU" for 12 seasons before his character retired and was written out of the show in 2011.
Earlier this month, NBC announced the date of a “Law & Order” crossover event that will reunite Hargitay and Meloni’s beloved characters for the first time in a decade.
The reunion will begin April 1st at 9pm ET/PT when Meloni appears on an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” alongside Hargitay, who has headlined the series since its launch in 1999.
Immediately following “SVU,” NBC will premiere “Law & Order: Organized Crime” at 10pm ET/PT.
The two actors have remained close friends in real life and have been teasing loyal fans by sharing on-set photos during production of the crossover event.
In less than six weeks, Stabler and Benson will finally be together again.
