According to a statement, the show "provides a glimpse into a very interesting season in the lives of the three hosts and their friends." It will also feature some of the culture's most influential icons as special guests and will have "conversations, sketches, impersonations, archival audio clips and a soundtrack comprised of cuts from Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, D’Angelo, Heatwave featuring Johnny Wilder and more."

For Chappelle, "making a podcast isn’t the obvious next move for me, but it’s the right one. The Midnight Miracle gives you a look into how me and my friends process the world around us, and I think it will change the way listeners think of what a podcast can be." The comedian edited over 100 hours of recorded content with Black Star.

Some, however, are calling for the show's cancellation or restructuring because according to reports, Kweli has been harassing a Black woman online for nearly a year and has encouraged his fans to do the same. The woman has sought out legal counsel and the situation is currently being investigated. None of the hosts nor Luminary, the company behind the podcast, has spoken out regarding the allegations.
