The airline is a state-owned transportation company based in Doha, Qatar and run by Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker. In the past, Qatar Airways has received other awards from Airline Ratings.

“Airline Ratings Excellence Awards are aptly named, for, at every touchpoint, excellence is the goal at Qatar Airways led by its inspirational Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker,” Geoffrey Thomas, founder and Editor-in-Chief of Airline Ratings.

According to Airline Ratings, Qatar Airways was the first airline to complete the International Air Transport Association’s operational safety audit, as well as other COVID-19 pandemic safety protocols.

“Over the past 16 months, we have witnessed some of the darkest days ever seen by the aviation industry,” said Al Baker. “Yet, when so many other airlines stopped flying, Qatar Airways continued to operate and stand by our passengers.”
