Aurora proposing to buy Geauga Lake and 40 acres of land

The city of Aurora is proposing to buy Geauga Lake as well as 40 acres of lakefront land that once was the home of SeaWorld Ohio. The area has been dormant since the park closed in 2007.

This proposal will cost $4.5 million for the property to be redeveloped into a public park with a pool, beach and more. Taxes will not increase to pay for this property.

This new development will feature a "lake loop" trail/boardwalk around Geauga Lake. Some of the structures from the former SeaWorld Ohio, including the aquarium, may be turned into a restaurant or similar facility.
