CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns-Texans trade for Deshaun Watson became official with the transaction being listed on the league’s wire Monday afternoon.
A minor discrepancy was revealed in that Cleveland will send a total of six picks to Houston while getting the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback and a 2024 sixth-round pick in return.
Houston will receive Cleveland’s first and fourth round (via Detroit) selections this year – Nos. 13 and 107 overall, a first and third round pick in 2023 as well as a first and fourth round pick in 2024.
The teams previously announced Cleveland would get Watson and a 2024 fifth-round pick while Houston would receive first rounders in 2022, 2023 and 2024 plus a third rounder in 2023 and a fourth-round pick in 2024.
The Browns did not provide any clarity as to why the discrepancy between what was announced and filed with the league office other than to confirm that what was sent to the NFL is the final compensation and terms of the trade.
