Cedar Point announces Top Thrill 2 will replace Top Thrill Dragster coaster
The remake of the Top Thrill Dragster has been a closely guarded secret for Cedar Point, generating a lot of speculation among coaster fans as construction started earlier this year.
We now know Cedar Point will replace the Top Thrill Dragster with a new record-breaking roller coaster called Top Thrill 2. The Dragster was the world’s tallest and fastest when it debuted in 2003, and now they added a second 420-foot-tall tower spike, three launches and a top speed of 120 mph.
This ride will debut next year in the 2024 season and this is how the ride operates: riders will first launch forward at 74 mph, traveling partway up the original hill, then rolling backward; then they’ll launch backward at 101 mph up the new rear tower set at a 90-degree angle; finally, they’ll launch forward again, at 120 mph, up and over the hill.
According to cedar Point, Top Thrill 2 will be world’s tallest and fastest triple-launch strata roller coaster.
