The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s newest resident has arrived. He is a 7 year old Giraffe named Rocket.
He came to Cleveland from a zoo in New Jersey. He is the tallest giraffe at the zoo and 16 feet tall. Guests can visit Rocket daily and due to his height, he is easy to spot! According to the zoo, as a young adult male, he’s still growing, even though Rocket already weighs over 2,100 pounds.
It should be noted today is not only the first day of summer, but also World Giraffe Day. World Giraffe Day is celebrated on June 21 every year, so it’s fitting to bring you this awesome story today!
