New study analyzed Census Bureau data across more than 170 cities to find America’s loneliest cities. They defined 'loneliest' by which cities are home to the most people who live by themselves.

Two Ohio cities made it in the top 10. Cincinnati came in at 5 and none other than our own city of Cleveland at 6.

According to the study, out of all homes in Cleveland, 46.2% of them are occupied by only one person. Cleveland also appears to be getting even lonelier. On average, the number of people living alone in Cleveland has increased by 1.9% year-over-year since 2016.

Here are the top 10 'Loneliest' Cities:

1. Washington, D.C.
2. St. Louis, MO
3. Alexandria, VA
4. Richmond, VA
5. Cincinnati, OH
6. Cleveland, OH
7. New Orleans, LA
8. Birmingham, AL
9. Atlanta, GA
10. Baltimore, MD

Akron also made the list at number 18, the study shows. You can check out the full study for more information here.
