Evan Mobley is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks following an arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to remove a loose body, according to the team.
The news on Mobley's injury comes less than an hour after teammate Darrius Garland was reported to have a fractured jaw.
The Cavs released a statement saying, "Recent imaging and a series of treatment and rehabilitation confirmed that surgery was the best option to alleviate the discomfort in the knee."
Prior to the news, the former USC Trojan had missed the last four games for the team.
The 2023 All-Defensive First-Teamer has had a productive season up to this point, averaging 1.7 blocks per game on the defensive end. While offensively, he is averaging 16 points and 10.5 rebounds.
With both Darius Garland and Evan Mobley hurt, the Cavaliers rotations could begin to look a lot different in the coming days. Additional play time likely coming for guys like Craig Porter, Georges Niang, and Tristan Thompson.
Cleveland returns to play when they host the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night.
