Giant Eagle has announced it will discontinue single use plastic bags at Cuyahoga County stores starting this month. Beginning April 22, Earth Day, stores will encourage shoppers to bring their own, reusable bags.

According to Scene, the company said that it has already eliminated plastic bags from its more than 250 GetGo gas stations and that the initiative in Cuyahoga County is part of its larger sustainability platform.
