A notable celebrity, plus one of his "famous friends" reunited for the very first time since their first appearance together back in 2000.
The Guardians had their Opening Day game at Progressive Field on April 15th with A-List actor (as well as avid Guardians baseball fan) Tom Hanks throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. Hanks was accompanied by a replica of "Wilson" his make-believe friend during the movie “Cast Away."
The Oscar winning actor was sporting a white Guardians jersey with a blue hat, threw out the pitch to Larry Doby Jr., the son of Larry Doby, one of the greatest players in Cleveland baseball history as well as the first black ballplayer in the American League.
Once Hanks got to the mound, he raised up the Wilson prop which featured the same blood-painted hand print on the front of the ball and a Guardians 'C' on the back of the Volleyball.
Not unlike in the movie, Hanks was separated from Wilson due to the ball being connected via a remote control which carried the ball off the mound before tossing the pitch out to Doby Jr.
This is not the first time Hanks is helping the ballclub. During their transition from the Indians to the Guardians, in July, Hanks narrated the introduction video into their new name reveal.
Unfortunately for the Indians lost their home opener to San Francisco 4-1.
