The Weeknd ran through his hits during the Super Bowl halftime show while creating a “cinematic experience” for viewers. He performed everything from Starboy, to I Feel it Coming, to his finale with Blinding Lights, but some viewers were too confused by the costume choice for his backup dancers to enjoy the show.

The dancers wore red coats and white masks, with bandages wrapped around their heads. And (real fans know) it's not the first time bandages have been apart of The Weeknd's visual concepts. The Weeknd offered Variety an explanation about his bandaged appearance earlier this week.

“The significance of the entire head bandages is reflecting on the absurd culture of Hollywood celebrity and people manipulating themselves for superficial reasons to please and be validated,” he said.

Fans have seen this concept played out after the release of his latest album, After Hours and will finally be able to see it in concert. The Weeknd announced his After Hours World Tour, which is coming to Cleveland Sunday, January 30, 2022.
