Much more known for his string of hit romantic comedies – and that infamous cheating scandal – nonetheless, Grant has played an alternative version of the Twelfth Doctor in a 1999 episode. He was earlier asked to play the Ninth Doctor, but turned it down thinking the rebooted show wouldn’t take off. He later expressed regret for that decision, as the show got more popular.

Also not the first name that pops into “Doctor Who” fans’ minds, the host of CBS’ “The Late Late Show” played Doctor Who’s friend, Craig Owens, in two episodes between 2010-11. Corden recently announced that next season will be his last on the talk show, so who knows, maybe he’ll sneak some guest appearances into “Doctor Who” again.

Starting in 2005, the Shakespearian actor began a five-year run as the Tenth Doctor. Among many other roles, Tennant played the villain Killgrave in the Marvel series for Netflix, “Jessica Jones." (2015–2019).

The first female Doctor in the "Doctor Who" series, Whittaker has also formed a reputation for intriguing roles in cult projects like “Attack the Block” and “The Black Mirror.” After three more episodes of “Doctor Who” this season, she will hand over the keys of the TARDIS to Ncuti Gatwa.

Though he only played the Doctor for one season, in 2005, it was memorable, as the show had been off the air since 1996. Eccleston has since remained a fixture on British television.

While younger viewers might recognize McCoy as Radagast in “The Hobbit” film series of a few years ago, this Scottish actor played the Seventh Doctor from 1987 until 1989, which also marked the end of the original run of the series.

A venerated British film and stage actor who always brings his wickedly sly and sarcastic air to any role, Grant has played a number of small roles on "Doctor Who," and even voiced a version of the Ninth Doctor in the webcast animation, “Scream of the Shalka.”
