Famed director Ryan Coogler was mistaken for a bank robber and placed in handcuffs at an Atlanta Bank of America, it was recently revealed.

According to an Atlanta Police Department report obtained by TMZ, Coogler was detained after he tried to withdraw thousands from his account in January.
Coogler reportedly walked into the bank wearing sunglasses and a face mask. The bank teller mistook him for a robber after he handed her a withdrawal slip with a note written on the back, according to the outlet.
The message reportedly read, “I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money count somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet.”
The teller allegedly believed the incident was suspicious and alerted the authorities for an attempted robbery.
Arriving officers detained two people waiting outside for Coogler in an SUV and then placed the "Black Panther" director in handcuffs, according to TMZ.
After completing the investigation, police deemed the situation a huge mistake and placed blame on the bank employee.
Police said Coogler did nothing wrong and the report noted he asked for badge numbers of all the responding officers once everyone was released, TMZ reported.
Coogler told TMZ Wednesday, “This situation should never have happened. However, Bank of America worked with me and addressed it to my satisfaction and we have moved on.”
Coogler has been spending time in Georgia filming the sequel to the Marvel blockbuster. Coogler also directed the "Rocky" series spinoff, Creed.
